Things to do in Marlborough

There are so many amazing things to do in Marlborough that there is no way you can get them all done in a single visit. If you plan on kicking back and relaxing, or a more active holiday, you’ll have no problem staying entertained.

Wine and food tours are the most popular way to spend quality ‘Marlborough time’. We can arrange for you to take a ‘behind-the-scenes’ tour of local wineries and gourmet food producers so you can meet the people and hear their stories. (And taste the goodies!) We can also arrange bike tours of the wineries.

Tasting Pinot Noir from the barrel, sampling beautiful olive oils and fresh fruits when in season – if you like good food and wine then we can offer a truly memorable gourmet experience.

The Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre offers a world-class display of World War One aircraft and memorabilia.

Boat tours in the Sounds will give you a bird’s eye view of the mussel and salmon farming operations that thrive in this pristine environment.

Golf: There are 2 good quality 18-hole courses within a 12 kilometre radius. We have clubs available for guest use.

Trout fishing: Hamish is a keen trout angler and knows the Wairau River well. We can offer year-round fishing on some waters.

The quality of the local fishery is such that we are frequently casting to 5-lb plus trout with a large dry fly.

Hamish is a level 1 archery coach, and offers an archery experience to guests for no extra charge, including use of equipment.

Ever wanted to have a go at knife or axe throwing? We have an axe-throwing wall made of vertically placed pine sleepers. Experience the thrill of throwing an axe or throwing  knife and you’ll understand why we have the wall there!

We have pétanque for those keen to pass a bit of leisure time with a glass of local wine in one hand and not a care in the world in the other.
